5-Hit Blitz by Atlanta's Baerga
Monday, July 25th, 1994
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.

Carlos Baerga is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium II today. The monster effort from the 25-year-old shortstop helped the Atlanta Braves take the win, 21-5.

"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Cardinals manager Terry Harmon. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."

Carlos Baerga singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

For the season Baerga has hit .335 with 6 home runs and 41 RBIs. He has played in 92 games and scored 52 times.
